I just got a 7600GS for my computer. Should I even bother with installing the CD Drivers first, or should I just go straight to the nvidia site?
Also, how do you check the video card temps? I got speedfan, but I'm not sure which temp is the vid card one? Theres Temp1, Temp 2, HD0, and another Temp 1, which has a fire icon bedside it and isrunning at 53 degrees Celcius. Is that way to high? But which one is for the vid card? Edit: And is this the correct driver for my card? http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_162.18.html

Download straight from the source, link mentioned is correct drivers.
Don't use speedfan for temps, Use Pcwizard or Everest, If you have a motherboard specific temp reader then that is ideal. |

Thats the right driver, the nvidia control panel will show you the temp. Plus you can use this

Dammit, I just installed it after I posted because it was giving me problems
Do I have to uninstall the driver from the CD first, or can I just go ahead and install the one from the web?

OK thanks, I found out that my vid card is running at 51 degrees Celcius, constantly. It doesn't waiver from that at all and the fan is at 100%.
This worries me. Is 51C a decent idling temp? Sounds a bit high. As well as the fan being at 100%.

51*C is fine for that graphics card on stock cooling. My 7600GT from EVGA runs at 54*C and rarely over. Graphics cards generally record higher temperatures because they generate almost as much heat as a CPU, but have much less efficient cooling stock. As long as your GPU temps are below 70* you'll be fine. I have heard of people running up to 100*C but I don't like the smell of burning silicon
