Default radeon x1950 pro vs 7900 gt

hey, My radeon x1950 pro is 575 core clock while my geforce 7900 gt is 470 core clock. WHen i put in geforce 7900 gt in computer, i noticed games like stalker/battlefield 2 run alot of smoother compared to radeon x1950 pro, but how could this be? Im not really knowledge about grapihc card but judging from the core clock, shouldnt radeon 1950x pro run better since it has 575 mhz core clock?

maybe your PSU doesn't delivery enough power to the x1950. ATI card does drain more power than Nvidia card but in X1000 generation. ATI card is faster than Nvidia card.

The clock frequency of two different cards cannot be accurately compared. One is an ATI and one is a Nvidia, They both utilize very different core architecture. When comparing cards like that it is standard to look at benchmarks instead of specs. In benchmarks the 1950pro's closest competitor would be the 7900gs.

The exception to this rule is when comparing cards that utilize the same core, such as the g80.

Lol, the link you posted only shows a .5% difference in overall FPS. But yeah the 1950pro is the better card, I was just saying it's closest Nvidia competitor was the gs.

First: It is not "far better"

X1950Pro is just slightly faster, and 7900GS was able to win in three games

Second: X1950Pro at stock is 575/1380, but the one tested in tomshardware is 594/1390 which means that it was overclocked.

It is unfair to compare an overclocked X1950Pro to a stock 7900GS

ATI mid-ranged X1600 series was much slower than Nvidia mid-ranged 7 series

And it seems that 7900GT is faster than X1950Pro

Maybe it could be something stupid. You might still only have the 7900gt's drivers still installed, that would make the X1950Pro run crap. It's more than likely not but you might as well check.

Overall the 7900GT is better than the X1950pro, the X1950XT will beat the 7900GT.
