Not the laser, the LED. Laser mouses work pretty much on anything, but "normal" optical mouses that most people have have LEDs in them, and those are the ones that don't work too good on glossy surface/glass.
EDIT: Oh yeah... I doubt a laser mouse would work on glass. My bad, forgot to use my brain...
