The first time it loads, it Profiles your hardware to allow for quicker boot-ups, but 3-4 minutes does seem a bit long. You mentioned your graphic drivers aren't installed, so that could be part of the problem. As far as reinstalling one, I cannot say for certain as I've only done it with Nvidia cards, but this link:
