I agree completely if your going to get a gaming computer i would say XP is your best bet.

Way overpriced.

Every major brand that sells computers pre-built is overpriced compared to building it yourself.

I would suggest going with a dual-core processor, preferably a intel core 2 duo (e8400 is perfect for you) it will outperform the quad core in gaming)
The best advice would actually be to take that money and invest it in a nice mutual fund, or a CD with a good return rate and earn interest on your money, but I am not your parents and can't tell you how to spend your money. Don't waste the money on the PC unless you need it.

That looks like a solid gaming computer for sure.

I'd use that money and put it into a GIC of some sort, i have one and mine pays like 4.5% (i signed at a good time)
Agreed don't buy this computer unless you completely need a new one. (or need to spend 100s of $ on repairs/upgrades.) Getting a new computer just because you want to or because you consider your out of fashion is a complete waste of money, but hey thats my option.
