can anyone suggest a good, fast, free OS. Most likely a linux but open to everything. I need something thats compatible with an 802.11 wireless card. I want to install the OS and begin surfing the web wirelessly.

so ubuntu didn't work, i highly doubt PCLinux OS will not work too, but its worth i try

Funny... Ubuntu works PERFECTLY with my wireless card... Theres an icon in the top right! I just dbl click and it asks for key, and bam! Im connected =]
You can try SUSE linux... Its quite good.
