Question I Need Welcome Screen Help!

The computer shows email info on my start up welcome screen, (you have 3 unread emails, even after checking emails so there are 0 emails unread i still get the you have 3 unread messages)

I would like to turn off and clear this notication can someone tell me how??:

I have windows XP home spk2 includeing all updates, Office 2003 professional includeing all updates (I dont use outlook and i dont think its turned on at least i have not started it), windows messenger, hotmail & windows live mail. Also my internet options are set to live mail not outlook.

Default I need welcome screen help!

I tried to use the instructions on the site you provided but i dont see the file unread email they say to change. Useing- start , run, regedit as they instructed.
