I'm trying to convert my video to .AVI so I can edit it Windows Movie Maker. I tried renaming the .vob to .avi but it still wouldn't work. I also tried .wmv and .mpeg. Is there a free program with no trials that limit me from doing the whole movie that I can use to convert it?

first of all you don't change the extension it just won't work, it might even mess up your video, you need a converter, i use imtoo MPEG encoder (pricey) but you can google "vob to avi" and see what results you get.
