slow cd-rom speed in winxp?

hi!

i have noticed that my cd room speed is very slow when running under xp. its about 6x. but when im in real dos mode or win 98 its reading with a speed of 48x mb/s, something like that.

i have a cd-rom 50x. when it goes fast i know it because the cd rom begins to run very loud. on the contrary when its not using its full speed it doesnt make that much noise, and i cant even look at vcd with my cd driver because its running to slow.

i have enabled DMA on it and its using Ultra DMA mode 2. but its still running too slow. i dont know whats the problem is maybe someone know?

1. Try driiver update
2. Read/Write buffering enabled?
