i too wish the companies would standardize their classification system...

i've seen sata as: serial, sata 150, sata 300 (the 150 is first generation and slower than the 300. some pci cards only support 150. so if you have a 300 then you'll have to convert it to 150 by placing a jumper)

i've seen pata as: parallel, ide, ide-5, ata, ata 100
