Default Speed over capacity

Hi there, my cousin wanted to get a new computer from Gateway and he asked me if he should get a 1000GB (7200 rpm), or get a cheaper (-$40)
300GB (10,000 Rpm) for his computer. So I want to know what you guys think.

Oh and before I forget he is making a gaming computer.
