ok i was reading up on raid0 and raid1. so i learned that raid1 is when you have 2 hard drives acting as one, basically if one were to fail, you'd have the other as a backup with all the same information.
in raid0, or striping, you're using 2 hard drives as one. more or less to prevent a bottle neck of information, thus increasing performance. but you're only as strong as your weakest link, or hard drive. 40 gig HDD and a 60 HDD will be treated as 2 40 gig HDD's, losing 20 gigs of space. question is...how much performance? very noticeable? if so, how would i go about doing this? would i have to buy certain software to configure it? like i said, i just read up on it. in like the last 20 minutes lol. i'm building a new computer and would like it as fast as possible. if you gonna do it, do it big. again, thanks for the help in advance Last edited by thebull; 09-06-2007 at 01:56 AM. |
