Can I use ddr2 ram if the ram im using right now is just ddr?

Nope, not unless you have DDR2 and DDR slots and you cant use them at the same time, DDR and DDR2 are not interchangable.

it actually depends on your motherboard, there are motherboards that are DDR only some DDR2 only and some that are both O_O haha but yeah you might wanna check out your motherboard details
