When I copy a website URL to the desktop as a shortcut, the icon will change after a few days to the boring IE logo from its original (i.e. the FoxNews spotlights icon changes to the IE logo). I can hunt down an icon online to permantely repalce it, but is there a way to keep the original icon?
Not a huge deal, but baffling. It does it in the favorites list as well, making it difficult to find specific sites. |

With IE 7 once you drag the explorer icon from a site into the links you will that site's icon when going to open links up and use it. For changing any icon for something on the desktop you first would have to save that site's icon to a folder on the drive if possible. Then you simply right click on the shortcut and click on the change icon option if seen there in the properties. A simple browse to the folder and highlight of the icon then clicking the apply button sees that replace the current one.
