Default Computer help wont log in .pif virus?

Hi Ive had one of these .pif viruses over msn and it has completely destroyed my computer. When i turn on my computer it goes on the the windows xp log in screen. After that i type in my password and it says logging in but it doesnt log in it says in text logging off. I tried restoring the computer by pressing f8 when booting the computer and even safe mode with command prompt but nothing works it just wont log in and i have nothing else to do.

Are you able to get logged on at all? So basically you can’t do anything right now? clear this up a bit.

Never heard of that virus but it sounds NASTY! Did you put the Windows cd in and try reinstalling the operating system? perhaps you have restore cd's that came with your computer? If so then put those in and let er run. You'll loose whatever that was on your hard drive but it sounds like it may be the only way.

Looks like the only thing i can do is re install windows i just dont want to loose all my files. I might be able to get some data off if I boot into Bart PE and use DOS to copy files across a network bye its complicated and long. Looks like im gna be reinstaling lol

Well you could always instal windows on another disk then try to clean the virus off that HD.

Login via safemode and goto the recovery console and overwrite the logonui.exe file

Or brute force install windows to the same drive
