I would readily agree on a need for two not one build especially for a system geared to run 64bit with large amounts of ram. That will readily see problems since even the new DX10 capatible games coming out since they will still be 32bit not 64bit as this time.
For graphics design and CAD plus engineering applications in many forms as well as exploration type softwares you are in a totally different class of machine there. You don't bring a soccer ball to the ice rink for hockey.
