It just so happen to turn out that way. AMDs looked slower on the store shelf, say a AMD at 1.6 was the same price as a Intel at 2.0 even though there were the same clock for clock. So AMD came up with this bright idea that they would calculate what the original Athlon and Duron would have to be running at for the same performance (bang came the
PR rating). But I agree that was the plan,it really was to give it the same rating as the Intel.
