Default Newbie question about laptops

Hey well I have college next year and I need to get a laptop for my engineering course. I was wondering though... Is it possible to upgrade a laptop? For example, say I buy a standard laptop for word chewing, could I later upgrade it for playing games or something?

Thanks for your time =)

Laptop's are upgradeable but with limitations. RAM is the most popular upgrade, can sometimes upgrade the HDD's but its not that common to do so. You cant upgrade the graphics, though in near future are are bring out portable graphics cards that connect via PCMIA slots. But in all honesty, laptops are not ideal for gaming really...

Laptop cannot upgrade.
Suggest getting a desktop for gaming.
By the way, GPU good for gaming may not good for CAD (don't know what engineering are you study....)

Thanks guys. I'm not really going to use it for gaming. Just for study, but it would be nice to run some older games when im on the move. I already have a desktop for gaming =)

The Asus C90s you can upgrade the graphics, RAM, and HDD but you are limited to what you can choose from. The model just came out last month or the one previous so its still relatively new.

I think you shouldn't buy an weak labtop if you are planning on upgrading it later and playing games on it. I think you should just buy a very strong one, and that will solve all your problems.
