picked up a seagate 500gb 16mb 7200.10 this morning.. i haven't been able to get it working.. once I put the xp cd and reboot, I was able to load the xp setup... my motherboard requires me to press F6 so I can install an IDE driver so I can install XP.. that was ok, I did that and it worked fine.. I was almost done installing XP (7 minutes left) then I left the room.. I came back, and had a black screen with that little blinking white underscore.. I rebooted... it goes through the boot screen, then keeps giving me that damn white underscore.
I thought sata was easier than ide? I have never had this issue with my ide hd.. this is really starting to piss me off... what can I do? (other than taking a hammer to it!)

Well.. I managed to get XP installed again. However, everytime I reboot I get the problem.
If I shut my computer down, and turn it back on, it'll work. I checked the hd in the bios, it's reading everything correct... it seems whenever I reboot, it doesn't work.. but if I shut the pc down, and turn it back on, it works? Any ideas?

Sorry for the double post... I tried that, and it appears to be random. Sometimes it'll boot, somtimes it wont... is the HD garbage?
