The 8600GT wouldn't be a real upgrade, it is not that great at running the inefficient DX10. The GTS would run it better and if he wants to upgrade to SLI 8600GTS's he can. I would rather stick with a 7600GT than get around anything below an 8600GTS.

I give you my vote, except I would suggest getting the GA-P35-DS3L instead
