I would never purchase a new operating system released by Microsoft until it's been out for at least 7 months. If you don't mind bugs and possibly not having software drivers for computer hardware you own then go ahead and buy Windows 7. I absolutely agree with what you're saying, but that's 2010. If I can hold off on buying Vista and get the new OS after the beginning stage bugs are fixed, then why not? Windows XP still supports everything.
I'm using it as my home PC and gaming.
