Default I Need Help :(

Hi everyone,

I tried to install the RAM into my old computer by swapping the PC2100 2x256mb with PC2700 2x256mb from another computer. However, after I installed it and tried to start the computer up nothing would show on the monitor but the computer would be running.

So then I thought maybe I'll just switch it back to the old PC2100 RAM because I hoped I didn't mess up the computer somehow. Sadly, the same thing occurs, nothing shows up on the screen but the computer runs.

What I do know is that there is no connection problems to the monitor or video card. I also know there can't be anything wrong with the monitor itself because I tried hooking up the computer to another monitor and it still won't show up on the screen.

My question is: If RAM isn't installed properly or if the banks are damaged will it cause the screen to be blank? If no, what other problems could it be.

Update: The Num Lock light keeps blinking when the computer is turned on (the screen still doesn't come up.) What does this mean?

Thank you for your help.

Whatever is wrong should be sent out in a beep code through the PC speaker (not the speakers on your sound card).

If RAM isn't installed properly (or it's bad or the slots are bad) the PC should turn on and beep but nothing else will happen.
