You could make it so windows doesnt show folders and hide a folder... With all the files in it.

Welcome to the forum!!! Please take a moment to read the rules.

And now to your question...
What version of windows do you have? XP? Vista? Do you have administrator rights on the computer? If so, are you the only one who has that?

I'm wondering if you could put a password on your administrator account. Then in the device manager disable the dvd drive. I believe for someone else to enable it again, they would need administrator privileges (although I am not 100% sure). Then, whenever you want to watch a DVD, you can enable the dvd drive in device manager and restart the computer. I believe every enabling and disabling requires a restart for the changes to take effect - but again, I am not 100% sure on that.

There are simpler ways of reaching your goal, but they are not as safe - in other words, anyone who is computer oriented could figure out how to watch the movies anyway. They could even bring their own thumbdrive with a portable software version of some media player and watch a movie. That's why I think disabling the dvd drive might be a better way to go.

I don't think that would help if someone comes in with a dvd they want to pop in the dvd drive and watch. Or do you mean you can also password-protect drives?

Well he said "and any media we put on it" so maybe they have other media too or something idk..

Anyways, I got an idea, you could just get WinRar (free) and use it to encrypt/compress a folder...and add a password.
