Default what to do ?

i know this is bending the rules a bit but i need clarification.
ok so am thinking of formatting my Lenovo thinkpad x60 but i have a problem, it didn't ship with the XP cd so am gonna loose "originality" if i go on with the format.
however i do have have an unbranded xp disk (with no key).
The sticker underneath the laptop is there, the product-key is there.
Is this the very key i will use in the setup when asked ?

(i'm not to sure the key will work if i use the unbranded XP disk)

thanking all

sure go ahead, nothing wrong with ethical piracy. nothing wrong with grey hat either.

what is an "unbranded xp disk"? OEM?

so there is no hidden recovery partion on the laptop?

A subject like "what to do ?" doesn't tell me anything about what your question is. Now if the subject was "ethical use of product key" that at least tells me you maybe want to use a serial/product key to allow you to use some software but you are unsure of the legality.</rant>

well you can get an xp product key viewer or something like siw.exe which shows it you aswell (to see if it's the same product key). other than that, is the prudoct key sticker on the bottom of your laptop an IBM XP sticker or just a normal one? If it's got IBM on it you probably won't be able to use it unless you ring up Microsoft

it reads "Microsoft windows XP professional, lenovo singapore" then a little lower it shows the key.
i've used the key-finder but it's not the same as the one below the latop
i don't want to take the risk to format the laptop if it involves loosing my GENUINE thing
