Long story short:
I don't have my own computer any longer but I have access to one that has 98SE on it. So I thought I would buy an external HD and use there usb 2.0 ports and load my XP on to my HD and I could still have everything seperate from them and do my own thing without affecting anyone. Problem: I have never used an external and I was wondering if I should be able to hook it up to the 2.0 and then install XP and then the necessary drivers and be up and running. I have slaved an internal once before and thought that it may be similar to that experience. Such as picking what drive to boot from. Would this or should this work much like an internal HD slaved or will there be other things that I will need to do.? I found an external and here are the details: 90.00 dollars: Fantom 80GB Portable USB2.0 External Hard Drive, Model TFDU8072, Retail Specifications: Capacity: 80GB Average Seek Time: 8.5 ms Buffer: 2MB Rotational Speed: 7200 RPM Interface: USB 2.0 Features: Horizontal or Vertical Placement, Sturdy Aluminum Enclosure, Fanless Design for silent operation. Warranty: 1 year Thanks for all of your help or comments in advance. please help I need the PC privacy that I once had

it will not run on an external hdd, i tried that it seems to work and then error. I CAN however run an EXTERNAL sata hdd running xp LOL since the connection is stil technically internal with the SATA enclosure.
