Talking Maxtor 120 gb hard drive problem

i have a new Maxtor 120gb hard drive brand new and when i try to install windows xp on it at the last step i get a blue screen its driving me crazy please help.

Does this occur everytime you try to install XP?

I think your HDD is probably faulty eventhough it is new, try to take it back to where you bought it and exchange it for another.

now my bro is really smart wit computers he said if it was bad it won't start up.

That's exactly what it is my friend .. just as I thought. You need to update your BIOS to support large HD. You probably had your motherboard for a while now.
