I need to replace my DI-604 d-link router because it has a security flaw and would like to know if anyone could recommend me a good one . It needs to be wired not wireless. Thanks

for home/small biz routers, I've always stayed with linksys and never had any problems. I've had issues with D-link, and even more issues with Netgear.

Buffalo routers are very high quality and 100% compatible with DD-WRT (at least the common 54G ones ) I'm running a WHR-HP-G54 at school and it's been wonderful. My dad's got the newer, cheaper WHR-G125 and it's good, but I prefered the older models such as mine or the un-amplified WHR-G54...

Can you recommend a linksys model that is hard wired instead of wireless? Also I new at this and have no idea what DD-WRT is or does. I'll try to google it for more info, thanks.

DD-WRT is basically another firmware you can load on certain routers. It adds many new options, though most of which aren't required. Nothing I have setup on my router not is beyond it's original firmware settings, but people say DD-WRT is more stable than some default firmware.
