Changing from Vista to XP..
Hey everyone.
 I have an HP Media Center PC m7767c; it came preinstalled with Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit Edition. My processor is an Intel Core 2 Duo E6600. Windows Vista, in my opinion, is very sluggish. My school uses HP computers with Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 processors and Windows XP, and their computers are significantly faster than mine.  I've decided that I'd like to install Windows XP 64-bit OS, and entirely get rid of Windows Vista. How can I go about doing this?  I don't want to lose any drivers, hardware, etc etc. I don't want my PC's components to lose functionality; I want it to work 100% perfectly. Please help.

Buy a copy of XP, delete the whole Vista partition and install XP. You will have to reinstall all the drivers because they are different for XP 64-bit and Vista 32-bit.

Formating the Vista partition should do it.
Install XP after the formating is done.

you will have to completely erase and reformat your harddrive, then after installing windows you will have to install drivers. you will lose all your data. may i ask why you want to use XP 64-bit? there are a lot of compatibility issues, i would stick with XP 32-bit if i were you

32-bit is tried and tested, and performs as it expected to. 64-bit is still far enough out on the cutting edge that you may get sliced a bit. 64-bit has come a long way and is the future mind you, but we're just not completely there yet. Maybe in a year who knows, but not at the moment. However long it takes, 32-bit will not be rendered obsolete anytime soon.
