Default can't display hidden folders

i had to format my c drive recently, because the motherboard was changed.

normally,if you hide a folder/file,then you just go to the parent folder
tools>folder options>view>show hidden files and folders

and the hidden folder starts appearing in a translucent manner.
but,now i see that they don't appear.
infact the very changes that i make to folder options>view>
disappears the next time i open it.

i have some hiddem folders in d drive.search is able to find them.but i can't display them anymore(unless i don't make them not 'hidden')

i don't want to reformat.can anyone help?

You go into a folder and select Tools, Folder options, View, "Show Hidden Files and Folders"

So you can see the hidden ones..

Can you map to them? Type it into a folder, and see if it goes into the folder..

I've never had that problem. Just uninstall all the old drivers and install the new ones from the new CD.

i think you may need to edit register, just try this:

1.start-run-regedit
2.find:\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Wind ows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden \NOHIDDEN
3. select checkedvalue, and set the value to 2,default value to 2
4find:.\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Wind ows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden \SHOWALL
5. select CheckedValue set the value to 1, default value to 2
