Is this a common issue at all, since basically the heatsink is releasing heat all over the place?
I have a Zalman 9700, which is huge, and an Antec NeoPower PSU. It doesn't have a large fan on the bottom, it has an intake at the front and an exhaust fan at the rear of the computer. There's about 5mm - 1cm of clearance between the top of the heatsink and the bottom of the PSU. Bad? I'll take a pic if I need to. |

Does the heatsink have a fan on the top? If it is then I would say it's not really a problem, but the airflow would be restricted.

You fine. There even might be some benefit
, the HSF is blowing at the PSU. More cooling for the PSU + CPU.

phew, I guess I'm a little neurotic about computer stuff. I was thinking about getting a Zalman 9500 instead of 9700 which is built around a 92mm fan instead of 110mm, or investing in a case that puts the PSU at the bottom.I might do the latter anyway, since those are neat, but it can wait now. Thanks guys. |
