Default got my stuff today and wont turn.

HEy so i got my package today~! super excited! so i start putting the motherboar and everything together. And i hook my psu up to the motherboard. And then i plug it in. And turn the power switch on the psu to on then i press the front power button. And nothing happens. So i unplug it and mess with the +4 psu connector and push down alil on the board and sparks come up from the board.
What did i do wrong! my board is a 24 pin power connector, can i use a 20+4 ? and when i got my package i got a circlular washer almost kind of thing in the bag with all my screws where does that go!?

and if i plug in my psu to the wall and switch it on shouldnt my cpu fan turn?

There are lots of possible causes, so i'll name a few.

First the obvious, are you sure that the 24 pin AND the 4/6pin is connected?

Are you sure the front power button is connected to the right jumpers on the motherboard? Usually if something is dead, the fans will power on for less then a second and then shut off, is that the case?

Did you use the screw "extenders" (usually gold), in between the motherboard and motherboard-tray? If not it could cause a short.

Are you certain your CPU and RAM are inserted correctly?

If none of those solved the problem, post back.

Some optical drives are not made to be sideways. If your computer is sideways I suggest flipping it to the right way. Otherwise, get the paper clip and the emergency hole.
