Default Analog Video Capture on a Gateway GM5472

Howdy Folks,

Just got a Gateway GM5472. Vista with Windows Movie Maker 6.0 On the front is a VIDEO IN port.

Silly me but I expected that I could use it to capture analog video from my old 8mm & VHS tapes and then edit and burn to DVD's.

For a couple of days now I have been pestering Gateway to tell me which app I could use to capture. So far they have pointed me in the wrong direction (advised me to use Movie Maker 2.0, a XP era version not installed that did capture analog) told me it was a third party problem and then gotten real quite.

Looks like I might have a port that just doesnt' do anything....

There is also a OEM AVerMedia M791 NTSC/ATSC TV Tuner Card in a PCI-x slot with an S-video input.

Might anyone have a suggestion on how I can work my way out of this hole?

Thanks,
Norm
