Default BIOS/Clock Issues

I've been having this problem for a few months now and just been ignoring it because the comp works fine. Anyways, for quiet a while when I boot up and the screen where I could go to BIOS I have to push f2 to load defaults to continue or it won't go anywhere, just sits there and tells me to do that. I can never set the BIOS because with each comp restart it auto resets it, so I never have the right time and date set and I can't run more than 1 hard drive. Any help would be appreciated, also as faras comp does running wise, after loading default values blows down pretty much everything.

-Asus M2A-MVP
-AMD 3600+ X2
-Asus x1950Pro
-2GB G.Skill DDR2 800

Have tried clearing the CMOS and rebooting . You might want to take the cmos battery out for 3 or 4 minutes and let it reset.

A couple things
1. Make sure you have the latest drivers for you motherboard.
2. Make sure you have set your jumpers to the normal setting and not the reset jumper configuration.
3. If all else fails clear CMOS by carefully removing battery for 30 seconds and consult your manual for jumper placement.

Assuming your using your ASUS Board you have on the post here are the latest drivers page. Oh by the way, It is a ASUS M2R32-MVP I think.

Jumpers in right position, cleared by removal of battery a while back, also up to date drivers.

My bad on Mobo it's Asus M2A-MVP with the 480x chipset.

You might try updating the Bios if there is a newer version available.

Asus site is really starting to irk me, trying to check out new BIOS drivers and first you must pick class of product, then pick what socket it is, can't pick the socket or the model, had this problem earlier on their page :/

**EDIT** Got the page to work, will update in a bit.

Sounds to me like your cmos battery is dead, try getting a new one.

When your battery is dead it will not keep your settings, so they revert back to defaults.

Actually when I removed the battery to reset it I put in a different battery and it didn't change anything. Anyways I just updated the BIOS and rebooted (with Asus Update tool) but no luck still samething, all it gives me is...

"CMOS Checksum bad" or something to that effect then I gotta push f2 to load defaults once again.

Yep, they're all good, just checked them. on pins 1-2 instead of 2-3. Anyways with it on clear comp won't even fire up I'm pretty sure.
