Default Slow Internet

I have a wired cable connection here at school that transfers at 100mbps. The problem I have is that I am unable to play any online games or download any files. Pages load fast but it's like the bandwidth is very limited. Is there anyway to get around this?

If your bandwidth is limited, you're stuck with the allowed amount...
I don't know and don't think there is a way around that unless you get the admin access...

You dont have a 100Mbps connection, thats the speed of the LAN that you are connected to. If you have cable internet then the speed is most likely anywhere from 2-20Mbps. The reason you can't play games well online is most likely because there are hundreds of computers also on the internet/network, which are either downloading, streaming media, surfing the web, etc, which will cause a lot of latency. Theres no way to get around it unless you are the admin who can control who uses what on the network.

Oh, well thanks. The reason I asked is because I had heard of some people playing WoW and other stuff online so I figured maybe there was a way around it. I've heard using the wireless network might help. Thanks again.

You shouldn't be playing MMOs at school anyway.

If the wireless network uses the same internet connection, it will be worse. There are times throughout the day that are better, such as night time.

If he's at college and staying in the dorms, then it could be perfectly fine.

Why shouldn't I be playing MMO's? I've got a pretty laid back semester right now so it's not like I'm putting off school work.
