Security Essentials/Forum Rules
This section is aimed at providing solutions to clean infected machines, implementing preventative measures to protect your machine, as well as present a backdrop to which discussions of PC security may be held.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE POSTING All members are advised to await input from a moderator before actioning any recommendation's from other users, this is not an attempt to stifle suggestions from other members (which we actively encourage) but is merely a warning that incorrect solutions can damage your PC and some of our non-moderator members have been known to give erroneous advice. The following 3 threads are essential reads for ALL members Basic Malware Prevention - Discussion of the best applications to prevent your machine becoming infected Basic Malware Removal - Discussion of how to clean away most of the nasties that your PC can pick up Hijackthis Logs - HiJackThis (HJT) is an essential tool our team use to remove the more complex malware, and to ensure your system is clean. These instructions should be followed when requested by a moderator and all posts should contain a copy of the HJT log for the suspected infected machine. Please do not post your log in someone else's thread, even if you have the same problem as they do. Always make your own thread. Additionally To comply with the wishes of sUBs, the author of combofix, only qualified staff from a reputable anti-malware site are allowed to post combofix scripts here. Any member seen to be breaking this rule will be subject to a warning and\or infraction, and a possible ban. This only applies to combofix scripts, recommending a scan with combofix is fine. Thank you.
