Hey guys and gals,
So I've had my Toshiba Satellite for a couple years now, and I have loved it. After un-installing Vista and putting on XP sp3 on it, I really have had no problems. I have had some nasty viruses, but I've fixed it with either system restore, or Killbox ect. I currently have Desktop Maestro on my Satellite and I love it, has awesome tools like registry scan, system optimization, and keeps my boot times rather fast!
I still have the stock 2 gigs of DDR2 ram, and the 1.8GHz Turion64 X2, video card Radeon X1200 integrated, exc exc.

I dont use my computer for gaming or anything like that, just normal usage. my hard drive (250GB) was about 75% filled with my music, and photos( I am a photographer on the side ) and i will be DAMNED if i loose all of it, i will be pissing blood:mad:

okay, well here is the problem, finally! :D

I was doing the usual, surfing the web and chatting with people online before going to bed, and I always put my laptop on "sleep" mode when i leave for a while, or go to sleep. I don't turn it off that much, except if i leave for the weekend.

I wake up this morning, flip the open the lid, and its totally greyish white. So I'm like "double you tee eff" and restart it. Once I restart it, 2 seconds later there are colorful vertical lines (and no, i am not on drugs:cool: ) then i start to freak out, then restart it again. same thing, different colored lines in different spots. I try it again, and NOTHING happens. alittle "boot" noise with my cd-rom drive, but then, nothing. I cant even get into BIOS

Not a virus. motherboard? video card? i leave that to you smarter people. IF my computer is totally done for, is there any way i can take the hard drive out to transfer the data to another computer for safe keeping?

Thanks a ton
Jordan

I am looking for a specific kind of computer and was just wondering if someone could help me find it or how hard it would to be build it.

The computer I would like would be somewhat like a laptop/net-book/iphone, I'm thinking similar to a 17in Iphone. I would like to have all of the available options as a laptop, such as GUI operating system and keyboard, along with a touch screen monitor. I would prefer the computer be packed into the back of the monitor and have a wireless keyboard capabilities.

I don't really want to spend more than $500 but I might be willing to go up to $1000 for the perfect system. Would this be relatively easy/cheaper to build?

Thanks for any suggestions you might have.

Recent upgrades include hard drive 160 GB, memory is in the mail, bumping it up from 512 to 1.5GB, and have a new battery on the way also, this one is toast. Seems to be working fine, had a few issues over the years, power cord and hinges mainly. Anyways it is up and running now, and it is so heavy the kids don't want to use it-bonus! If there are any Gateway 7330GZ users, would like to know the upgrades you have done over the years and any issues you may have had.

I'm looking for suggestions about a really small handheld computer. I'm thinking of something along the lines of a smart phone. I have considered getting a netbook, but wondered if there was something smaller and cheaper. I am only needing it to do very basic stuff. Something else totally different that might accomplish the same thing would be a small portable battery-powered monitor. Something that I could take outside that would interface with my desktop computer, like a remote second monitor. Has anyone heard of something like this, or am I just dreaming it up?

Hello, I'm having trouble starting up my acer aspire 6920. I turn it on and the Microsoft corporation loading screen comes up for about 30 seconds. Then that goes blank Then I'm left with two options "Launch Startup repair (recommended)" or Start "Windows Normally" I select ""Launch Startup repair (recommended)" it goes blank for about another 30 seconds or so, then ga "Startup repair screen" comes up and says "Attempting repairs this may take a few hours. After that sometimes it says "We cannot fix the problem" or it just goes into all this other gibberish with a black screen with all these weird codes and stuff. Sometimes different things happen when I try and turn it on by most of the time this happens. I've tried starting it in safe mode but that same gibberish comes up and nothing really happens it just stays there for hours. I need help please!!!!

PS. I did install a service pack then it restarted automically now I can't get back on it. Also I was never given a restore disk with the computer is there another way of fixing this problem?
