It should also be s775 for a core2quad, and preferably will take DDR3 ram, although if it only took DDR2, that would do.

Anyone know where I may find such a beast?
Thanking you

I bought this cpu for it - found it in a working system, so I know it is good - but it does not work in my setup. It is also a socket 478 chip.

Are there different flavors of this chip? Do I have to monkey with the mobo switch settings? Right now I have a 2.4 ghz celeron in it and want to connect a new 24" lcd monitor to the computer. I am not sure if the celeron will do the trick.

How should I proceed?

Hey all,
Just reformatted a computer and ran into a problem while installing windows xp media edition. At about 18 minutes remaining it asked for a service pack 2 cd in which I didn't have. So I skipped it, it was just looking for the internet explorer. So once the installation was finished all thats missing was internet explorer. When I broke open the case to check out what kind of motherboard it was there was no label in sight. So I downloaded and installed cpuz and it said that my motherboard was a 760GX-m. I went to download all the drivers but even after installing the Lan Driver (Realtek 10/100/1000 PCI NIC Family Driver) I cant get any internet. What Am I missing. Without any internet I cant update windows, and get this computer rolling again. Any suggestions or ideas would be well appreciated and tried.
Thanks a lot,
Haha, anyway, I'm wondering if I can look for the mobo @ the official MSI site, download the BIOS, put it on USB/floppy and flash it without having to worry about anything. :D
Is it possible to overwrite the old OEM bios with the new one, so I'll have overclock options?

Thanks in advance:good:

1. If the board I am buying has the standard ram of ddr2 1066 will my ddr2 800 ram work in it?
2. Can I mix and match ram? ex. buy a 4 gig ram card that runs at 1066 and my 800 on that board? I know that they will only run at 800, but still, will it work?
3. Can I throw 2x 2 gig ram card + 2x 4 gig ram cards in this board and have it equal up to 12 gigs? It says maximum support is 8 gigs, but i was thinking they tested it with 4x 2 Gig cards. (sounds kind of stupid, but still a legit question)

here are the two boards i am choosing between

Did the new motherboard go out or did the psu fail? He has the same psu I have that's been running for close to two years and I haven't had any trouble. Did it not like the new quad's power consumption? It has 500w and 36A on the rails. It had the 8 pin power connector.

Did the motherboard go out maybe? Maybe it was defective? It's a GA-MA790FX-UD5P made by Gigabyte. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hello,

I just installed PC PROBE II from the motherboard software/drivers cd that came with the mobo. Right when it booted, it said that my motherboard was at 84 degrees celcius? That's crazy!

It hasn't changed at all in the past 5 minutes. I suspect that there is an error.

Right when I saw it, I turned all my case fans on high because I was freaked out.

I suspect an error, because everything else is fluctuating except the motherboard temperature.

My cpu temp is going between 27c to 30c. I know that's fine.

I'm just confused. Have any of you heard of the same problem with this software?

Thanks.

So, I need a motherboard that does crossfire (atleast 8x/8x), supports AM3 and DDR3-1600 ram, and has atleast a 710 or 750 south bridge so I can unlock my Phenom II 550 again to a quad.
One last thing, I need to keep it under $110 shipped to me.
So far, this is the best I've found-
