i have an intel dg45id motherboard and am only using the onboard graphics, which i think is not supported by many games. how can i fix this? thanks

You need to get an actual video card. Fallout 3 requires 512 mb of onboard memory and the latest shader versions. Onboard chipsets just don't cut it.

The good news is that your board has a PCI-Express 2.0 slot, so you can
get a nice video card for it, as long as your power supply will run the card
you choose.

your onboard graphics wont pull enough ram from your system to support games like that and also like many hve said wont possess propper color or shader versions. All of that and i believe onbaord graphics pry dont support the newer version of direct x.
