I have a problem with my Hard drive 160 Gig with 111 Gig free space on it (I had Dell 5150 dimension with 3.00Ghz) but keeps on running so loud that it annoys me so much but the problem is my Firefox becames so slow that every click will wait about 15-20 seconds to change or use? Kinda really gave me some head ache about this problem, but if I switch to Internet Explorer I can use this browser easily while the Hard drive keeps spinning so loud. In order for me to use again Fiefox I have to re start my computer then Hard drive dies down means no more spinning loudly I can use Fire fox but anytime Hard drive will come back again to spin loudly? Within one day maybe 5 to 7 times that hard drive will spin loudly. This problem is almost 2 to 3 months already , any suggestion to solve this problem thanks in advance.

If the drive is making a loud noise, thats not good. However, if the drive is just caching, then you've either have a process that is using the drive or a malware issue.

Ya it has a loud noise it was working properly only there's some time that it will run so noisy it affects Fire fox as my browser that I can't use it but if IE I use no problem even Hard drive was running noisy. I always run my Malware bytes and Glary's Utitlities if ever Hard drive runs like that. But no virus at all. What do you mean by caching thus this means that a program is using it?

or it can be that your hard drive is dying but before doing so you should back up your files and reformat your hard drive and see if it still acts up

Try going to the drive manufacturer's website and downloading their drive utility if one is available. It will test the drive and tell you of any problems.

Is the sound a hard drive noise or the CPU fan ramping up in speed? If it is the CPU fan making the sound, it is supposed to do that, only for some reason Firefox is making it work harder than it should. Uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox might fix this.
