Thanks for the help man. Although it didn't seem to work. After I enter either -sudo startx or -sudo gdm, the screen goes black again.

I have files I need so re-installing the OS is not a problem as long as the files aren't lost. Is there any way to install Ubuntu again without it erasing my pics, music and such?

Well I think I got it to work See I'm just a beginner with Linux.

I looked at a tutorial on how to make it look like Leopard and everything was going OK until I got to the part where you change the Log-In screen. After "installing" the new Log-In screen, now all I see is pitch black screen, nothing on it so I can't log in.

Guess I won't take it that far next time, I don't need a complete Mac OS transformation anyways

Alright, thanks man. I went on with the installation and had no problems making the partitioning Currently dual booting XP and Intrepid Ibex

I finally decided I want Ubuntu My dad uses it and I think it's pretty sweet. Now my question is, I currently have XP but don't feel like backing up everything I have so I want to dual boot. Will the Ubuntu installation even touch the partition where Windows is installed? In other words, do I actually need to back up my data?
