Once the login screen loads (yes, I know you can't see it, but when you hear it) try typing your username, pressing enter, typing your password and pressing enter then logging in.

Thanks again. But it didn't work either This time though the monitor displays a "Input not detected" message like when you just turn on your computer and the video doesn't register until the 2-3rd second. But it's black anyways, I can hear the log-in screen sound though, seems like the Mac OS log-in screen was kicked out.

    Is there a plan C?

    Again, thanks man!

New idea... don't reinstall... this method should be cinch. When you turn on your computer instead of selecting Ubuntu or Windows as you normally do select: "Ubuntu (recovery mode)"

A menu should come up... choose the option that says something like "reconfigure X" and follow the instructions. Should work after that.

Thanks for the help man. Although it didn't seem to work. After I enter either -sudo startx or -sudo gdm, the screen goes black again.

I have files I need so re-installing the OS is not a problem as long as the files aren't lost. Is there any way to install Ubuntu again without it erasing my pics, music and such?

    Thanks so far whistle!

Try using "CTRL-ALT-F1" AFTER Ubuntu has finished starting. The enter your username and password when it asks. Once logged in, type in the terminal "sudo killall gdm" then tell it your passward when it asks. Then you type either "sudo startx" or "sudo gdm"

Hopefully that works... then you can go back and change the login screen settings back to default.

Oh, and next time use this guide: http://www.howtoforge.com/mac4lin_ma...ook_like_a_mac It's better.

Well I think I got it to work See I'm just a beginner with Linux.

I looked at a tutorial on how to make it look like Leopard and everything was going OK until I got to the part where you change the Log-In screen. After "installing" the new Log-In screen, now all I see is pitch black screen, nothing on it so I can't log in.

Guess I won't take it that far next time, I don't need a complete Mac OS transformation anyways

    Any halp? Thanks!

BTW, this is the tutorial in case you wanna know exactly what I did... or tried to do
