I use TeamViewer when my clients need telephone support. I haven't found any software for remote support that works better.

What are you doing with it?

If you have an environment you need security away from third parties then RDP is a better bet :p

Teamviewer is HIPAA compliant and uses AES 256 bit encryption. Can't go wrong.

I have a program in Linux that can crack into an RDP connection.

Except all of your data is piped through a third party network, which you don't control and can't verify specifically what happens with the data.

You also don't know what the hell you're doing on a daily basis.

Ahhh, what's this on my shoe? Shit! Nope, just your opinion.

What part of HIPPA compliant and AES 256 bit encrypted don't you understand? If they could see your traffic then Teamviewer wouldn't be HIPPA compliant.

Come on bro, you can't even consistently use the correct acronym, although I'm surprised you didn't suggest Telnet as an alternative :D

I'm not saying there's a huge issue with it, just conceptually all of your data goes to a third party. "It's encrypted" means nothing unless you can verify the session isn't re-encrypted at the head end where your traffic is unencapsulated.

I'd take Teamviewer over Logmein though. Seems easier to use for older people like my mom who needs help with Skype :p

This is my biggest complaint with those people who use VPN apps on Androids because they think it makes their data secure. Little do they know their data is "encrypted" only to the end point in China or wherever.

Yeah, a VPN is a different story. But if Teamviewer is HIPAA compliant my bet is that they can't see your data.
