Is there Mercury in a computer mouse?

Hi,

I bought a cheap gaming mouse from China, a very random question but would there be any liquid mercury or a mercury battery in there by any chance?

There's no liquid mercury in computing components. And why would there even be a battery in the mouse unless it's wireless?

Thanks -

It's not, I just was reading about the different metals they use in a mouse & for some reason I thought that they might possibly use mercury in it. Or possibly use a mercury switch inside it.

I also thought just as it was cheap from China it might of used different materials such as mercury than a usual mouse would.

So there is definitely no mercury in it? (I don't like having anything in my flat which may contain mercury if I can help it)

If you're worried about it, why did you even buy it?

If you consider the physical properties of mercury it's really not viable in any sort of peripheral manufacturing.

If there is some, I wouldn't be overly worried about it. It should be a very minimal amount. Also, don't eat your mouse :p
