Pentium G3250

Hello, I am currently running a i7 4790K at 4.6 GHz. I have a corsair H75 water cooler. I was thinking about getting a Pentium G3250 to get better performance.

Is my theory correct?

My plan is that since FSX only uses 1 main core and the other one for smaller tasks. It doesn't really need a lot of cores. Since the Pentium has 2. It would create less heat. Then I would overclock it to 7.5 GHz.

Could you please tell me if this is a good idea and what sort of voltages I would need. Or should I set the voltage to auto. Also would it be possible to do this with the Pentium G3250 both from the CPU point of view and a temperature point of view. I am using a H75 from Corsair.

Thanks a lot

There's no way you'll be able to OC a Pentium to 7.5Ghz. It won't be stable at all.

FSX is far from optimized. You're not going to get better performance going to a worse processor.

Where are you getting that the 3250 is better then the 4790k? There is no way that is possible. And you wouldn't be able to overclock the 3250 to 7.5 ghz as it is a locked cpu. The 3258 is unlocked but still can't be oc'd to 7.5.

I'm not trolling you guys. I just thought that since the Pentium has less cores, it would create less heat which would mean that I could Overclock it more. I've only heard that FSX doesn't need cores. It needs higher GHZ.

Okay?

And now I guess I was wrong.

I have quite a few systems, 1 of them with a G3258 which is one step above the G3250, although it is a great value cpu and fast enough for light needs, it is no where near as powerful as any of my i5 or i7 system`s.

Also although it runs cooler than an i range cpu, it does have similar limits for overclocking, the highest i have taken the 3258 was 3.5ghz, even with liquid cooling can`t see it going much above 4ghz and no where near 7 or 8 ghz
