Idiots...

I'm quite sure that there are a lot of people out there who can relate to the problem I'm having. I run a business! I do not have time to sit back and wait for these ill-equiped virus programs to run their updates! I have checked most of them and NOT ONE of them allows you to configure the time(s) to do their downloading. Are all of these people that stupid? Do they think that upgrading the virus program on MY PC is more important than me running my business? Time is money is it not? If anyone knows of an antivirus program that allows you to configure the times to do their upgrades, I would love to know. Thank you!

Most virus programs update in the background which means no interaction required from the user. What exact problems are you having?

Haha wow, I sense some hostility. Many AV programs run updates and scans in the background with no interaction to the user unless it detects a problem. What software are you using currently?

Sounds like some other issue you're having.

Also, AV definitions take mere seconds to update.

Bitdefender Free. Install and forget. Lightweight, cloud based and will stop you from visiting a webpage if it's infected. Only trouble is you have to register once, but that's it. It's free. http://www.bitdefender.com/solutions/free.html

But I should say, definition based malware protection isn't that full prof. I would run the browser in Sandboxie.

You get what you pay for. Buy a subscription, and most things will be automated where they're normally not on free versions.

Bitdefender Free is cloud based. It's automatic. And I've used free anti-virus all my life without updates problems...

As far as I know it doesn't matter what AV you've installed or are using, free or otherwise, you can schedule the time and day you want the programme to run from your PC settings and as said, most AV programmes run in the background all the time and usually notifies you when updates have been installed and any other information such as issues found and advises you of any action required, I have never known of any AV programme 'taking over' your PC to update or do a scan. In my experience, Windows updates are a bigger nuisance than AV updates, especially when you want to go to bed at midnight and click 'shut down' to then see a message 'do not unplug or power off your computer, Windows update is downloading 54 updates..............................
