Build a fee web site to inform the public?

I'm looking to build a web site so people in my area cam learn about the crime in our area. It seems like every week another house gets broken into.
Just a list of breakins homeowners could visit to keep our community aware of what's happening around us.

Three months ago we had a foiled breakin at our home. Only when my wife turned the lights on in the kitchen a little past 5am to make coffee that morning did they run away. We have security cameras at our gate and only after we returned home that night and looked at the recordings like we do almost every day, did we see what almost happened.
At 5:00am a car trys to hide past camera one, but is seen by camera two. The would be 4 burglars are seen running toward the house by using the UPS opening, and seen running back to their car about the time the kitchen lights came on. They all had mask covering their faces except one. THe one without a mask is seen by camera one trying to knock it out with the butt of a shotgun, but it kept recording him and the other three.

It was good for us but bad for our neighbor to the east. Nine minutes after they left our place they broke into thier house by kicking in the front door. Lucky for the neighbor they were out of town 100 miles away.

So, what I would like to do is set up a site where others can go to keep up with the crime in our area. Does anyone know of a service that I can use to do this with?

I would think you could take local reports and maybe enter them manually into a collaborative google document. It would always be able to be edited anytime, stay up-to-date and only by the people you add!

Nextdoor.com was created for stuff like this, you should be able to add a neighborhood and only people with invites can join the group.

I just checked with Nextdoor. They want $150 to build a web site. They do a lot of things, Web Hosting, Updateing, Email and such.
All I want is a site where I can post a few addresses that have been robbed and to warn others about it.

Just a page or two of a few lines of text.

I don't think you were looking at the same nextdoor site. I just created a neighborhood at zero cost as a proof of concept, in fact there were zero options to even choose any paid plan whatsoever.

Just a suggestion though. You could always make a facebook group for your neighborhood as well. We have one in our area called 'Stolen KC' that has helped people recover various stolen property, or alert about shady or violent individuals.

I created a site at Nextdoor.comand it looked pretty good but after a week I just killed the site. I started getting people who joined without my permission. Addresses not within the defined area. Nextdoor must have advertized my area location because I got people who do not live any where close to my defined area joining as my neighbor.

A person with a womans name was able to join as my neighbor with out my permisson with a fake address on my road and a telephone number located 5 miles away from my area. I'm sure she just wanted to know about the crime in our area, but how did she get my information.
Did Nextdoor.com send out emails to the surrounding towns and areas about my location?

Privacy? No.

I was going to contact my neighbors within my defined area and tell them myself how to access the site to see how crime has spread.
And just tonight, a warrent has been issued for a robber that looked like the one in my security camera. Another home was robbed 5 miles away and that home has cameras too. The cops just played the video on the nightly news and he has already been identified. He looks like my robber.

How do I know since the new person who joined my area with a fake address is not another robber?

I want a site or better just a page, that I can post information for people to read that I tell how they can find the information, with privacy I comtrol.

A little hard to control who's who from a website perspective. Facebook would be more ideal since you can see their location. For example, I'm on a garage sale Facebook page to my town only.
