New Asus ROG laptop smells weird

Ok so basically I have a new laptop. Very nice cost me a fortune. As I type this I'm running very small programs (ex. ITunes) everything is cool except it smells a little funky. Now it is 100% cool air that is coming out, I felt the bottom of the computer and it's not even warm. This laptop is completely quiet and never gets warm. The hottest it's gotten is when I was playing minecraft, but nothing crazy, just warm. It's only a few days old and has never got too hot to the point where something could have messed up. Should I be concerned? Ive never smelt a burning laptop but it smells kinda plasticy. I can't describe it but there is definitely some sort of smell coming out of the cool air. Specs: Asus rog laptop. I7 4th gen. 16 gb of ram. 1tb + 128 ssd with the os on it. Intel HD + Dedicated GeForce GTX 960m running Windows 10. Bought "like new" condition from a factor direct eBay sellers with a 360 1 year all things covered warranty

We have owned several ROG laptops over the years..G73, G75, G771 and they all had, what I believe you are experiencing..

None of them had any issues, and my belief is its just a funky "new car type smell".. it went away and none of them got hot really, even while gaming for extended periods.

Also, my current MSI had that strange smell too..again, no issues with it.

I'd say unless it gets super hot, or smell like burning its just the funk from the materials used. Keep an eye on it, but I dont think you should worry at all~~

Ok thanks, but i wanna ask just how hot is too hot? As example tonight i was playing minecraft again (one of my favs) and i open speedfan to look at the temps and i had all my cores up in the 90's at one point. And my GPU at 75 for its max. Is this ok? Im pretty new to this and dont want to risk "over-clocking" still not sure exactly what that is. It didnt seem like burning hot on the out side. But is that to much?

(Temps in degress celcius)

Hey, unfortunately with specific temps I cant really advise--I can only speak to the familiarity I think I have with what you are experiencing.

Maybe someone else here has better idea.. sorry I cant help more!

After having used my HP ENVY for 2 years now, I can say: yes that is hot.

But I wouldn't be too worried. Mine ran at 90 C playing anything basically 24-7, and I never found a very effective way of keeping the temps down.

No it shouldn't really run that hot though, I always imagined mine was terrible because it was an HP.
