Help!! Wifi keeps dropping out

hi folks

i have an issue with my laptop where the wifi drops in and out. So i change the wifi channel and the signal stopped cutting out so frequently.

So now it drops out now and again. as just before, the wifi stayed connected for about 4.5 hours but then disconnected.

The wifi reception triangle at the bottom right corner, goes right down to the last bar, and then with a second,
goes right back to full reception bars.

anyone of you guys know whats happening here?
im worried that its my wifi/ network card thats cutting in and out now again. or? could it still be the other wifi signals in the area making the laptop disconnect?

thanks, bit of light on this matter would be great

thanks, bye

What router are you using? :What is the wireless card you have? Have you updated the driver for it? How far away are you from the router?

hey john35 thanks for your help

well my wifi hasnt dropped out for about 4 hours.

so i guess its the other hotspots in this block thats cutting my connection out. right?

it seems that it disconnects later on in the day, but i might still try and update my driver if theres a way to do that, my laptop is only about 6 months old

thanks

That's a large jump from 'wat do' to making baseless assumptions ;)

If we knew what equipment you're using then it'd be a lot easier to help.

ok

my router is a NetComm Wireless NB604N

im in a 2 story flat and the router is down stairs and my laptop is upstairs, its a wooden flat, so i guess about maybe 15-20 foot away from the router, i havent had a problem with the distance before.

ok my wireless card is intel (R) Dual Band wireless -AC 7260.

Drive date is 18/06/2014 i havent updated the driver yet

i happen to have a usb wireless adapter, and was just wondering if it automatically picks up the signal and turns the wireless card off once connected?

thanks

You'd have to disable the integrated adapter, then reconnect to your network using the USB adapter.

If the router is unsecured and shared between several PC's then your dropping out issue may be due to the other users connected to it soaking up the signal by downloading stuff or due to how much closer to the router they are, also deflection or blocking of the signal will affect it, thick walls, a tree in the way even a door being closed can affect signal. If this is the case then there's nothing much you can do about it unless you have the hardware to set up your own router, like a phone socket and a working phone landline. Another thing that can affect dropping out is the amount of MBs your provider is allowing you, if it's limited and it's nearing that limit your provider can 'strangle' the speed to prevent you going over your allocated limit.
