what to check a new laptop

I have placed an order for a new laptop and will collect it tomorrow. What to check a new laptop? Or just ensure it is sealed and should be fine? How to check for dead and light pixels ? How to get to full screen under Ms Paint? Anything else I have to make sure if it's good

Just turn it on and use it. If it's bad it will run poorly or have other physical defects that you may notice.

To check for dead pixels, load up an entirely white and black page and look for stuck or dead pixels, they will jump out at you. Most likely you wouldn't be able to RMA it unless there are multiple dead pixels though. Just use it, and if you see something that is wrong then contact the company.

Return Merchandise Authorization.

Essentially return for refund/exchange hardware.

As said, use it and go from there. You have the basic manufacturers warrantee that will cover it for a specified period of time, also if you have paid for an extended warrantee that gives you more protection against defects and repairs, depending on the wording of the warrantee cover, you have to be careful with these extended covers though as some run alongside the manufactures warrantee and not extra to. Under consumer Law you have 6 years against defects.
