Sound problems

Ok, about 2 or 3 months ago i got my first SSD, after installing it i installed windows 10 and what not, updated all drivers ect. About 2 weeks after i noticed that if 2 sounds (wither communication software, youtube, music, you name it, if it made noise it counted) it would cause all my sound go crackly/poppy/robotic sounding all at the same time. Now just earlier today it started to make popping noises randomly. I have changed USB and also ran troubleshooting

See if you can rollback the sound driver via device manager. Its possible windows 10 is installing it's own driver. What sound hardware do you have?

Is this a laptop or desktop pc? If desktop, you can try adding a dedicated sound card and see if that fixes it. Did the machine come with windows 10 or did you upgrade to it?

Installed 10 fresh or upgraded to 10? This could be a driver issue, I would uninstall the current audio driver and driver software so windows should install its own driver. Test audio. Download latest driver from realtek if thats the maker of the audio. If it still happens then something is up with the sound chip. This is where you would have to get a dedicated sound card. Might even have to reinstall 10 just to diagnose what is going on.

Try this.

In device manager, right click on the microphone entry and uninstall it. Give it a few seconds to complete that. Once it's done right click on the header for "Audio inputs and outputs" and scan for hardware changes. Once it installs it, test the mic.

Alternatively, uninstall it as above, but then reboot the machine and see if it works on reboot.

Another thing that might work that I discovered by accident is this. Right click on the volume control in your taskbar and select recording devices. Once there, right click on the microphone in the list and select properties. Under the advanced tab there's a dropdown for default format. Change it to something different and hit apply. Test it. I've noticed that even changing this to something, applying it, and then changing it back to the same setting as before would still fix the problem.

Windows 10 routinely breaks my webcam microphone and makes me sound like Mickey Mouse according to my friends. Doing one of the above fixes it. It's a hassle to deal with and is my biggest problem with Windows 10. Not being able to manually control drivers for specific devices. Almost every reboot of my computer screws up my mic.

I believe you posted this in the wrong thread. This thread isn't a microphone issue.
